Do y'all think rappers even read the papers before they sign a contract?

You'd be better off being indie. That way everything is in your hands and you don't have everybody reaching in your pockets :scust:
So some of y'all saying y'all would rather sign a Birdman deal? :usure:

but the thing is; when you are indie...is there going to be any money in your pockets?

Name a rapper who retired 100% indie without any major label help.

I think what gets these young artists is that think they will be hot forever so they don't about the repercussions of their contracts.

Retired? I don't about retired but isn't Tech N9ne indie? Or did he sign somewhere?

Tech N9ne started on a major and released several major albums.

Warner & eventually Jcor.

He eventually went indie but that spotlight by the major is what made him a viable investment for his fan O'Guinn.

Either ways he is currently on Fontana which is a wing of Universal.

better off being an indie artist these days by hiring some people to take care all of the internet promotion and setting up a Soundcloud instead of signing your life away to a contract that could basically keep you on the shelf for months better yet years. it's actually a good time for artists who are coming up. you can do all that yourself and have labels calling you demanding a solid deal. your best bet is to do all that shyt yourself.

Indie has never and will never be better than a major

Even the people getting screwed still make lots of money

yea, but they can't drop albums unless the label tells them to. the record label basically controls them. they also just can't walk away and leave the label. lawyers have to do the dirty work getting them off there.

If you want a cut of the big pie you gotta play by their rules.

Make a hot album and the label wil drop it. Most of these people complaining about being shelved fell the fukk off
