I have no idea but many people believe it is, that's why I'm asking just curious on thecoli's view.

The idea that vaccines cause autism was pushed by Andrew Wakefield who was trying to get pad via his own MMR vaccine. The fool falsified results in an attempt to kill the competition, it was never about helping people.

Everyday I work with children who live with autism, so I see what many parents go through. It can be extremely rough on families and their support systems, in some extreme cases (there are many) they can be absolutely isolated, no friends, no social circle, no job, no life.

So I can't be angry at parents being conned by a snake oil salesman, they are desperate for an answer and a solution after all. However, there is always somebody willing to exploit their suffering and will offer false hope to get paid.

The controversy surrounds a common preservative used in many different vaccines named thimerosal. Thimerosal contained small amounts of mercury. While less than the allowable amount in a single dose, when a child is administered multiple vaccinations within a short period of time, those dosages of mercury add up. Andrew Wakefield proposed it was a catalyst for the widespread cases of Autism in the 80s.

I don't know either way, as I only looked at the issue from a very surface level. I have a close relative with Autism who was born in the 80s. I do know the US And EU banned it's use in childhood vaccines. What's funny to me is Anti-Vaxxers were originally left wing suburban moms. Now people are tying Andrew Wakefield to people on the right. This is clear evidence of something being politicized, so I don't see how a topic like this will lead to fruitful discussion at this point in time.

Yes , of course there is a link. Its so obvious breh. It's scientifically proven.

it's scientifically proven that there's a strong correlation between being autistic and being a "free thinking" antivaxxer that is :troll: .

so ill say this....

Im in the Military and we have mandatory vaccines and upon entry into the military. We get the flu shot every year. And most every currently serving member has the covid 19 vax. So we are probably the largest sample size of people in the world who have multiple vaccines.

I say that to say that the autism rate amng children in the military is pretty high.. :francis: i personally know off hand like 5-10 service members who have developmentally delayed/special needs/severely handicapped children and i believe most of their children were born after they enlisted.

Now theres some thought that because of the health benefits of the military, diagnosis is often earlier and more frequent so the numbers will skew off of that alone (especially considering most Americans dont have access to decent healthcare).

BUt ive always wondered if there was an element of truth to that.....

*Also i have a theory that because humans are meant to talk and physically interact with each other and we evolved tht way for thousands of years, excess exposure to digital entertainment is impairing our childrens temporal lobes which manifests as autism but im nowhere near qualified to go any further on that.

My cousin was doing rotations where he was doing pediatrics, and he told me about one visit where a parent kept stating this to him, and he pretty much told her no and the source she was using was incorrect, and then the explanation she was giving didn't make medical sense.
When he gets into his pharmaceuticals bag and is explaining it, you'll know a good amount about how something works...if you can remember the long ass name of the meds he's talking about, lol
