Do you buy this Steph Curry is more "relatable" because of his height, narrative?

I kinda laugh when I hear this idea that Steph Curry is popular bc he's more "relatable" to kids & fans due to him being "only 6'3", which apparently isn't very tall to some ppl.

Same with Steve Nash. Yeah they look short(er) on TV compared to KD or Blake Griffin, but 6'3 is still legitimately tall and not something you see everyday unless you just happen to work around someone that tall. That's still half a foot taller than the average male.

I can go weeks and never see someone that's 6'3 or taller in public.

Yeah, I do actually. Just seems like more of a person, while the rest of those guys seem like superheroes.

He's more batman than superman to a lot of kids. If that makes sense.

You see Lebron. 6'8 275, fast as lightning, strong as an ox, dude is a machine. You see him and think "man hes a freak of nature" just so physically imposing I.e Superman.

You see Steph, 6'3, slim build, doing things his way and not the traditional way. You start to think "man that could be me too :dwillhuh:"

He's so effective and is dominating the game in a way we've never seen done.

Probably a combination of that, I dont think most people even realize he's that tall, and him not relying totally on athleticism. Although he's probably more athletic then 99% percent of people in world, even if they don't realize it :heh:

I think it's because he just led his team to a championship and now his team is on pace to break a record that was seemingly unbreakable

He's kind of a once in a generation athlete

Absolutely. But I think its his appearance/build more so than his height.

I said it in the other thread, Dwight Howard gets shytted on extra for being muscular. People assume if you are a "freak athlete" or "hit the genetic lottery" then you aren't trying that hard and if you are skinny with a smaller frame then you're automatically an underdog who beat the odds to make it. Thats part of the same extra credit they give to white athletes.

Being light skinned is only half the story. If Steph Curry was just as light skinned but cut up like Westbrook he wouldn't be as beloved...matter fact he'd be healthy Derrick Rose. Popular but not really a once in a generation superstar

All this fan culture shyt is borderline weird. Its like those pointless personification articles the sports industry makes just to fill TV time and sell ads in magazines that should have gone bust a long time ago. :scust:

Just watch the game, peep his stats, and keep it moving :ufdup:
