Im now keen on this amd reading stories of new hires making more than someone who been with a company 5+ years. Staying loyal just aint worth it these days. nikkahs be giving you 3% raises, meanwhile ole boy come in making $25k more than you for the same job.

I tell people time and time again to stick up for yourself. We all complain about low wages but scared to speak at the same time. Is it easy? No. It took me 8 years to hit $59k only because I had another offer. Then I job hopped and got damn near $30k raise.

In about 2 years im searching again and asking for $120k:lolbron:

Unfortunately errybody at this company knows what I make ever since a previous secretary bytch a few years ago Harvey Spectre'd me and told all the other guys outside how much I make in comparison to them, even though I log way more hours and wear way more hats than them. My pay has gone up a bit more while those that were around to know how much I made back then, pretty much still the same so it's technically unknown again, but yeah, Pay talk is something I don't engage in for shyt.

Yes, because we all supposed to get annual raises and raises when our union renegotiates and sometimes personnel be bullshytting.

More than once I've contacted my Personnel dept and been like "yo my coworker just got a 5% raise, when is mine taking effect?"

The only time was with other contractors at my old job when we got offers to become internal. Ended up doing enough research to get what the salary limits were and some people definitely took the first offer they were given with how low their salary was.

I would not now because I am sure I am getting paid the most in the team I am in (have the highest title/level besides my manager). Also people know I worked for my manager before this job, so not trying to start shyt.

I do believe in learning what your position should be making and if you are not hitting that, then it is time to get a raise or leave. Better to know you are getting the short end of the stick and work on it then to think everything is good.

Not the number but when there are raises or bonuses like %s . But I hear a lot of Gen Z employees openly discuss it. It’s actually better to discuss it in the open, shouldn’t be this big secret. Also you can’t get fired for it, it’s against the law for employers to fire employees about discussing salaries.

Yeah, I learn a lot how to maneuver this way. Also they're not my enemies, management is.

I found out I was getting severely underpaid at one job when one of the dudes in a group of 20, put me on game.

Its funny, as soon as people start sitting at the top, or feel like they're big shyt, they wanna gate keep shyt. But when you're climbing it's all fun and games to ask for help.

When I worked in film production The top guys at my work started telling everyone what they were earning.

And they couldn't be threatened or fired as they were invaluable.

Your managers /HR will definitely tell you its 'confidential' but they use that as an excuse so people don't know how much in most cases they are being underpaid.

We have a good idea what everyone makes. we all have essentially the same base pay, usually within $50k of each other. There are two track of employment with different bonus structures but everyone in each track gets the same amount of quarterly bonus. Salary transparency is a good thing.
