most of the shyt in there is actually politicized; some dudes in there drop great intellectual discussion but alot of that shyt is political posturing and neo-conservatism

I thought I was the only one. I have limited political and social knowledge, and I feel dumb as shyt when I go in that forum. thus I rarely go in there. and even moreso, I RARELY post in there cuz I usually cannot add an intelligent comment.
if you know you're dumb then you're actually kinda smart because real dumb people don't know they're dumb

I'd rather be relatively conscious & self-aware than a terribly pretentious religion bashing c*nt spending his days getting his nut off debates with anonymous people to increase his self esteem.
My attention span has gone to shyt due to internet culture, I've literally been fairly glued to the internet for 15+ years with the associated constant doses of fresh bite-sized information. As a result I find large blocks of text hard to process and some of the discussion there hard to follow. However, I do enjoy reading HL, there are some good threads there.

Funny to hear somebody refer to the internet as a "culture". But yeah, Im definitely in the same boat, especially because Im a youngin. I often times have a hard time articulating myself well, or thinking really deep about something.
I got a couple books right next to me that I should pick up & read. With all the distractions surrounding me, its so hard to sit down & focus without my mind drifting away
Yea... I learn a lot there, so I just mainly lurk.
