Do you feel that some people especially in the black community use the term 9-5 too loosely?

I understand a 9-5 means you have a boss to answer to but is someone that works at a finance firm or tech firm making 100K+ a 9-5 worker?

Careers shouldn’t be labeled 9-5 even though a lot of folks who don’t have careers like labeling them as such.
How are they not a 9 to 5 worker?? A 9 to 5 worker is generally just describing someone in the rat race, working within a corporation. What you described is literally the definition of that.

a lot of people who claim to be entrepreneurs do use the term 9-5 as an insult even tho said 9-5 worker might make significantly more money tho.
Yeah, but usually people who refer to 9-5 as an insult aren’t necessarily concerned with the money as much as they’re concerned with the autonomy that comes from working for ones self. It just depends on what you value, and what you can bring value to, there’s really no need to insult either side beyond “That’s not for me.”

I think 9-5 is the definition of a career, no?

Doesn't matter what you earn or what your title is.
