Do you feel that some people especially in the black community use the term 9-5 too loosely?

Let's be honest 9-5 in the 80's and 90's used to be a good thing, now Black people use is as an insult, which never bothered me because most of the people saying were men who sit on stoops at 1pm in the afternoon calling themselves entrepreneurs.

Cats saw too many Lambos and Rolls Royces on IG, and think that they gotta get Jay-Z money to bag broads.

I've learned from experience a lot of those types of dudes are usually broke or unemployed and I'm not hating, I'm being real.

If you got it like that, good for you. I will admit I wish was in that situation myself. I'm jealous but not in a hating manner. But a lot of times, I see a lot of dudes on that shyt when they don't have any "boss shyt" going on and they are usually imagining themselves as the next Steve Jobs or Jayz but really, they've never been able to hold a job in their life without quitting or being fired for ridiculous reasons and they have given up trying to do that, at least until they have "boss shyt". They are forever an "entrepreneur", producer, rapper, etc. But never have any business bringing in real money or performing anywhere or selling music. Especially if they are almost middle age speaking that shyt...

A lot of insecurities amongst the people.. Everyone wants to give the allusion that they're making moves.. Then this Covid shut down pulled the covers off of all them mfers.. A lot of this violence nationwide is really personal beefs.. People getting exposed out here.

I can’t work no 9-5. I’m actually worth at least 75k-80k on the open market in corporate. I could easily (still may take some time) get me a 100k a year job if that was my goal.

Now with that said, ain’t nothing wrong with a 9-5. Anyone talking down on that dumb. I can’t do the shyt, cause I need to be more free with my time and energy to maximize my earning potential.

I got a flight tomorrow to DC to meet with my agent to look at some storefronts for a “smoke shop” and got my investor coming with me. I couldn’t be running all these plays with a job. I’m bout to make a million dollars from this shyt. A job gonna try and give a nikka 80k.

But like I said, it’s nothing wrong with. 9-5. I been there and done that. That’s how I knew it wasn’t for me. But different strokes for different folks. The average nikka getting money ain’t talking down on no one with a 9-5

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Are you saying 9 to 5 is supposed to be an insult? Cuz I never heard that...

Of course it’s not an insult but the term is used to belittle someone who works for someone else.

it’s also used to belittle people into assuming they aren’t happy with their position in life because they have to clock in. Which is BS cause a lot of people love their careers and if you love your careers then I can’t call you a 9-5 worker.

and honestly I put the income too high on my OP. You can be happy with a career making 60K if it can afford you living right

Yep a whole generation shytting on 9 to 5 dudes.
Isn't it funny how it all started toward the end of the Obama Administration when BM started making gains in the Corporate Offices?:mjpls:But because the average 9-5 does not pay the wages to support a family of 4 anymore like in the 70's and 80's its no good. BW were already there, but after 5-10 years at the job plus a 30k Masters Degree only to be passed over by "POC Ally" 24-Year Old Becky for promotion now they're jumping ship for the Real Estate/LLC Life.

Yep. From what I have seen, most people would rather not be in a 9-5. But only a small percentage of them actually gonna have a serious goal and plan to leave an become and entrepreneur, and dedicate themselves to it. Plus life be getting in they way. Then an even smaller percentage is gonna say, fukk this, ain’t no perfect time. This shyt holding me back, and I ain’t got it figured out, but I’ll figure it out as I go along. Most people too risk adverse for that. So you end up with the average person being a traditional worker for their whole lives. And nothing wrong with that cause everyone got their own path.

My partner who go his own construction company and never worked for anyone a day in his life told me that all his most lucrative contracts, a white person walked him though the door. His point was, he still gotta deal with them white folks and go through the same shyt as someone with a job. Same shyt just a different toilet.
