People really be sitting around not thinking or talking about shyt. Like the cartoon where they zoom into a person's head and its just an empty room gathering dust. smh this is why when ur talking to a girl and the convo is going nowhere... there's just nothing going on in there.

I dont think thats true. Maybe said girl was having a convo in her head before you came along and are basically interrupting. Sometimes people that only converse in their heads arent good at doing it with others.

I tend to forget I even have it :manny:

I figure I'd be able to think things through better if I made us of it, but...

I see what you are getting at, I'm not mute in that regard, as I'm aware some people claim to be. I can hear any voice in my head if I want, but it's not a default approach, it really only happens when I'm reading. If I'm debating a topic with myself, I just talk aloud.

Remembering dreams? Rarely, but I have the worst approach to sleep right now, I plan to take a serious approach with some data tracking soon to alleviate that before seeing a professional about it. On the times I do remember dreams, very rarely is it clear, it's just fragments of a dream that stood out the most.

On the "red star" and thread, I imagined a literal red star (red giant), but that likely depends on what you will first associate "star" with. I can picture things in my head, if necessary, for example, I can playthrough Dark Souls 1 visually in my head from start to finish.

edit: But if asked to picture a star like the one in the thread, the red of the star is vivid. Same if I do a blue star or green.

If I ask you to remember a girl who is no longer in your life but generated fond memories describe the internal processes that occur so you know you are thinking about her please. Rate the following modalities of perception in terms of vividness with marks out of 10 and then rank them in terms of what is dominant in creating the experience in your head:

Visual - I see her, what she's wearing the surroundings and little details with a richness that ranks...
Auditory - I hear her voice and it sounds as full and vivid as it would were she was standing here speaking as the mark out of ten...
Smell - I can detect her aroma, scent, perfume or natural flesh as I recreate her in my head which matches the experience as...
Feeling - Both in and external. I sense the texture of her skin in my head just like the real thing and also the effects she has on my energetic circuits within as...

Then feel free to drop in a few notes about any difference you noticed in yourself before and after this thought experiment in terms of sensations of embodiment.

Everyone else reading can join in and give this a spin. Report back with your own findings, come one come all! Pause.

Nah and my wife has one, it seems like it makes life more difficult. I just be chilling to the nothingness. Or a song from TikTok. But no narrator

Well then wouldn’t you fall into the same group?

I think we are debating people who have the ability to think/visualize without opening their mouths VS people who literally have to say every thought out loud (so other people hear their thoughts).

You said you think before you speak. They’re saying there are other people who basically speak before they “speak”. Whatever you are thinking before you speak, is what someone else is saying out loud in an attempt to formulate their final thought.
I think there's indeed a conflation between lack of inner voice and lack of inner thoughts, but based on the video, it's the first case people describe imo.

The woman in the 2nd OP's video say she thinks like random jot notes which might have different tones, but doesn't have her own voice constantly narrating inside her head. So like me, she thinks without an inner voice.

I don't think there's anybody who is not thinking or have to verbalize something out loud to think it. That's not a thing. If that was the case, they couldn't function in society and we'd largely know about the phenomenon.

After watching that first video I'd have to say no.

I do "speak" with myself, but it's not a narration. It's my voice and I know it's "myself" talking
