He's aggressively unfunny to me:yeshrug:

He's never stepped outside of the parody realm and because of that he seems to not grow as an artist.

Does he have to talent to rebrand himself or is he doomed to ride the nepotism wave for the rest of his set?

He did in Requim For A Dream and Above The Rim

And he’s explained why he doesn’t do it more often in a manner that made complete sense.

He makes more money writing, producing, and starring in his and his family’s comedy movies than he does being in other people’s so called “prestige” dramas which mostly stereotype the black character anyways.

I feel the same, but his new Netflix standup special isn’t bad.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Could easily be the GOAT but nah.

Marlon showed a flash of greatness and potential in Requeim for a Dream and I was damn near certain he had more “serious” roles coming his way after that.
these match up so well.. even when he's playing "sorta" funny like dream or even above the rim... you saw that he could be serious and great at it... mix in with some funny and he could be a will smith or jaime foxx. but nooooooooooo.. he gotta go back to the slapstick comedy every time. and he's the worst at it
