my father and i are thick as thieves, we talk at least 4 or 5 times per week which makes me feel guilty sometimes about ma duke. with her it's different because she's more of a surface level person where as my father is naturally more attractive due to being a super analytical type who loves talking male leadership, black community, politics, and of course women lol. then there's fishing, baseball, and other things my moms is not interested in (she's a judge judy, dancing with the stars, oprah network greenleaf type)... but overall they both treated me great growing up. west indian parents can be annoying but somehow they were actually straight compared to other immigrants. probably because unlike my moms, my pops came to this country when he was in grade school so he was hella americanized

i told this story in the coliseum about how my pops bought me the air jordan one's on it's release date back in '85 (flat top status lol) and even got himself a pair. retail was $63.00 with tax at VIM's in brooklyn but he made sure that i had those shoes. even bought himself a pair and since then we try to get the jordans together on release date. old man rocking cap and gown 11's with baggy boot cut jeans covering up the damn shoe lol. now of course i love my moms but me and dad have a different kind of relationship period. anyway here's that story:

when me and my father copped the ones upon release date downtown brooklyn at V.I.M.S. they were $63.00 with tax which was UNHEARD of b. coppin 45 dollar adidas was considered an extravagance so this was outrageous. and we were not swimmin in bread at all but my father understood how much i loved mike (though magic was my favorite, still) and dreamed about them shoes. i knew every intimate detail and got him hype too. so i got the red and black and he bought himself the red, white and blacks. they came with two pairs of shoelaces, both red and black. but my strange father decided he was going to put both of them laces in his joints at the same time and it looked weird as fukk but i ain't say shyt lol

i was an extremely well behaved little nerdy/square nikka but when i walked into school rockin them shyts with the matching le tigre and run dmc lee denims? shorties were on me b :wow: plus i was fielding questions from my homeboys about everything air jordan related. i even started jumping and nikkas swore my vertical increased. i was gassed

nobody tried to rob me because of who my cousins were. thank god. i've been about them J's ever since basically
