TBH 50% of the time if im listening to music i made it. Idk why but its entirely different listening to your own stuff, might just be because i make the music i like but i really enjoy listening to my own stuff more than most music. I was talkin to a friend about this an he said he does the same thing, after a while nothin satisfies my ears except one of my own good beats. Ive been listening through my library for about an hour now an im having the time of my life, this one beat ive listened to about 10 times today and im still not tired of it.

I find it hard to listen to my own shyt

When I know how a song was made, it kind of devalues it for me

I like the mystery of wondering "wow, how did they make that?" and 9 out of 10 times it was probably really simple to make lol

Hell yeah I listen to my own music.

shyt, I haven't found an artist/producer out there that incorporates everything I wanna hear so I have to fill in the void myself. I enjoy a diversity of production and most artists only like to rock with one lane so it is what it is. Its like if you wanna hear some trap beats you gotta listen to some trap artist and if you wanna rock to some soulful boom bap shyt you gotta listen to some other nikka for that.

If you don't listen to your shyt all the fukking time, you aren't your favorite artist. If you aren't your favorite artist you put yourself down in terms of how successful you can be. I listen to my own shyt ALL the time not because I CANNOT STOP. One because I love my music, I think I'm next, and I continue to impress myself with every new track I record, and two because I don't stop critiquing my shyt and listening to it endlessly for every little mistake or any line that could've been written better. As an artist, it is essential to listen to your own shyt CONSTANTLY because this is what makes or breaks your craft. Think about it, if you lay down a song and you aren't listening to it, how do you know its good? how do you know you didn't make mistakes? how do you know if you could've done things better? how do you know if someone was to listen to your song that they would be able to play it over and over again like you could if you actually liked it? You HAVE to listen to your own shyt. And you have to LOVE your own shyt. If you don't love it, MAKE IT BETTER, duhhh. haha.

I def listen to my music all the time. I like putting it in the mix with other industry instrumentals/songs so when I hear something from the industry and then it transitions into one my beats I can sometimes hear what I might be doing wrong when it comes to structure/mix/sounds etc or if it is up to standards with them. Or sometimes I like to rock out to my own ish'.

same here, I can listen to my own stuff all day, I love the fact that I can create and enjoy songs and be the only person in the world who's heard the songs.

it's such a :banderas: feeling.
i remember reading a q and a from Rakim, and he was walking down the street before he blew, and heard his shyt comming from somones car, grab dude outta the car and was about to smack him up for stealing his shyt, till he figured out the song was coming from a radio station  random but your post made me remember it.

i never listen to shyt I laid vocals on, but I do listen to stuff I recorded of others, whether I made the beat or just the studio session.(in my school days)
