I don't look down on people ... there have been times when I almost was one.
I think my mom came close when she got divorced (i was 3).
When my kid was born, i was fresh out of college and dead broke.
We got as far as going down to the building where you apply for food stamps ... couldn't find the office, and said fukk it. We'll make it work on our own.
I got a second job, then caught a break with a better job and started moving up.
Basically, I got lucky.
So, since it was almost me, I can't look down on people needing help ... but I hate waiting behind them in line.

Like I said, I got lucky. Applied to good law school/grad schools (just trying anything), didn't get in. Interviewed for a lot of better paying jobs, and didn't get them.
my kid was 10 months old before I caught a break ... and almost two before I started really being able to
(by then I had my second son)I consider myself fairly resilient, but I'm sure I thought about giving up.
