I find this hard to believe without it being faulty or installed wrong.

Maybe it was. I wasn't the one that handled that part of the installation. It was actually the IT people lol. I heard it, and the tv did actually sound pretty damn good though.

It depends on what SKU of the tv you get. Some TVs have the same screen but upgraded speakers. Generally if the tv is super thin, the smaller the speakers are

Definitely yes. Some of the high end TVs have terrible sound out the box. They assume you have a soundbar. It’s basically a given that you have to buy a sound bar or some surround setup
Yeah TVs now want the be as thin as possible and on top that’s the place where they cut corners on cost. They’re using cheap android phone quality speakers

Living room - Yes
Bedroom - probably not

bedrooms don't need it, already feels like surround in the bedroom if u set ur tv audios settings correctly

I'd only recommend copping one for the living room since theres usually more space and sound isn't easily bouncing around like it is in a bedroom

Just bought a soundbar, having second thoughts

Wondering if I should have went the receiver and 2.0 route to start off.

Nah, you made the right decision. Standards, inputs, etc are still in flux. When that shyt is figured out in the industry, it will be time to buy a receiver
