I own a tv. Rarely watch live TV tho. Mostly just Netflix, Hulu, and streaming. Never heard of a tv licensing fee. Is that like paying for cable or another added cost?

I wonder how much the fee is too. Seems to be expensive because that seems like the reason why nobody is buying a tv in England

Since April 2019, the annual cost is £154.50 ($195) for a colour licence and £52 ($65) for a black and white licence. Income from the licence is primarily used to fund the television, radio and online services of the BBC.
