Do you put the cart back when you're done grocery shopping?

It really depends and how good the infrastructure is. If the places to put the carts are plentiful and well positioned most people have no objective to returning them.

Personally if I feel like I have to walk more than 3 car lengths to get to a cart station, then the cart will be left on the curb or in the parking spot.

Cart returning is a lot like taking out the trash in public places. If an institution puts out trash cans, people are more likely to use them.

There’s this one Publix I go to sometimes that doesn’t have a cart carousel. So you either return it to the store or leave it in the parking lot. I’ve returned my cart 99.9% of the time. I also throw my trash away in the movies.

I’ve worked at the grocery store as well as the movies. Collecting carts and cleaning the theatre was never the only job we had to do.
