It’s a common tactic in emotionally abusive relationships. It’s where you act like something legitimate is all in somebody’s head.
Women are frequent targets of this b:c men try to default to the myth that we are more “emotional” and thus less rational. Meanwhile they are allegedly the rational ones in control of their emotuons running around killing women that don’t like them or spawning countries filled with men with no partners.
Women do it to men too when they try and call men insecure if the man addresses a clear example of disrespect in a relationship.
Instead of using human interactions as experimental labs for psychological warfare and manipulation to sooth age-old childhood traumas and need for validation, people should heal and learn to communicate.

The term may also be used to describe a person who effectively puts forth a false narrative which leads another person or a group of people to doubt their own perceptions and become disoriented or distressed

I didn't know what it was until my girl told me about it. I was like wtf is that? but once you notice it and start using it you can't stop. But it is overused. I think it comes from the Trump Era when this nikka would get on TV and gas light a whole nation saying shyt that obviously wasn't true so matter of factlyNever seen the word before internet people started using it everywherd in the last 3, 4 years.
