Do you still call stadiums by their old names?

I’ve got a few I do this with too :russ:. I still refer to that ugly ass Audi dealership looking/air conditioning unit looking stadium in the New Jersey swamps as giants stadium even though it’s a new building (they really couldn’t even come up with a better first name than new meadowlands stadium so I’ll just stick with the old one). I still call the Heat’s arena the AAA, still refer to the lakers arena as staples, still call the Lightning’s arena the ice palace, still call the blue jays stadium the skydome, the chiefs building as arrowhead, and I still refer to the stadiums in Seattle as quest field and safeco field.

The Skydome will always be the home of the Toronto blue jays to me. And air Canada center the home of the raptors and maple leafs. The name of the former leafs arena, Maple leaf gardens, was a classic and traditional name for a hockey arena too.

Boston garden home of the Celtics and bruins
Chicago stadium home of the bulls and Blackhawks
Staples center/great western forum home of the lakers
Minute Maid park/astrodome for the astros
NASSAU Veterans coliseum ( ny islanders of the nhl)
Veterans stadium ( Phillies/eagles)
Miami arena( Miami heat of the nba and Florida panthers of the nhl )
Spectrum (sixers/flyers)
Joe Robbie stadium ( dolphins)
Richland coliseum (Cavs)
Shea stadium( Mets)
Jacobs Field(guardians/indians)
turner field ( braves)
The palace of auburn hills ( Detroit pistons)
Joe Louis arena( Detroit red wings)
Tiger stadium (Detroit tigers)
Reunion arena(Dallas stars of the nhl and the nba’s dallas mavericks)
The ice palace/thunderdome( Tampa bay lightning of the nhl)
The Alamodome (San Antonio spurs)
Market square arena( Indiana pacers)
Brendan Byrne /Continental Airlines Arena ( New Jersey devils and New Jersey nets)
Corel centre ( Ottawa senators, nhl)
Le forum/Molson centre ( Montréal canadiens, nhl)
Pacific coliseum/GM place(Vancouver canucks)
Sky reach centre/rexall place (Edmonton oilers )
Wait, what’s the Celtics and bruins arena called right now if not that or the td garden? A lot of these buildings aren’t the ones in use right now though. Chicago stadium hasn’t been used in ages. Same goes for the palace of auburn hills, the nets old arena in the meadowlands, turner field, shea stadium, the Houston astrodome (which really should be used for something since it’s a national landmark), and the Nassau coliseum. It really drives me nuts that the coliseum isn’t being used right now. I drive past it all the time and their current arena is great, but it never took me more than 15 minutes to get out of the parking lot after and islanders game in Uniondale since there’s so many ways out of that lot.

It’s a different stadium so calling it Giants Stadium doesn’t make sense

They never gave it a proper name so a lot of people never took to the new name. It took a year or two for them to find a sponsor so it was just “new meadowlands arena” for a year or two, which is as much a placeholder name as I’ve ever heard. It’s especially the case with jets fans I know since they almost got their own building in Manhattan before that fell through. They did refer to it as “jetlife” for a bit but they fell off a cliff almost right after moving in so that name would carry a lot of negativity with it :lolbron:

Not New Yorkers. Just a few Coli members from New York. Most people I know call it MetLife Stadium.

Giants Stadium was demolished; MetLife is a new stadium. Calling it "Giants Stadium" doesn't make sense lol.
