What about people who don't need it? I.e. middle-class people. More of us could dedicate our time to meaningful/satisfying work, rather than slaving away in cubicles, with the freedom and security granted by a basic income.

I'm not so sure about this. Numerous studies have documented the behavior of cash transfer recipients. Almost all of them seem to indicate that people behave fairly responsibly when given 'free money'.

I think we should just work toward progress as a human race. A lot of superficial shyt is slowing us down. I spend most of my money on books, occasionally I'll hit up the club, but for the most part I just pay my bills and hold down a part time job that pays me well. I can honestly say I'm the happiest I've been in a long time.

No, the concept of money isn't the issue, the issue is GREED, there's nothing wrong with being paid for your time or contribution. But honestly if you look at the world, Europeans were the first ones to corrupt economic systems that minimized wars, death and famine for centuries.

Africans were still trading cowrie in the 1900's as currency until the Germans started fukking up the economy and natural equilibrium that spanned across the whole continent.

Basic income is gonna happen one way or the other. Either the elite will be smart and give it to the general population, or we take it by force
