The sequel in 2019 flopped HORRIBLY and those type of flops usually make movie companies hesitant about using that particular IP for a few years.

They had unofficial Shaft inspired films, since then.
The official reboot had a great cast of actors.....SLJ was the wrong guy for the role and the storyline was shaky.

Omari Hardwick (Ghost)would be the only one who could really pull off a reboot.
