It is what it is. And I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing. Some guys just aren't built to take orders and set their life to another man's clock.
A lot of dudes think they’re built to be a boss but they’re not

A lot of these dudes who claim they ain’t built to take orders and are above a job don’t even have a net worth of $500. And I ain’t even the type to shyt on people because their money ain’t up, but someone who can’t even elevate themselves to middle class looking down on having a job is :gucci:

Let’s be reality, majority of people wanna be a boss because it makes them feel important, not because they’re actually qualified to be one. Most can’t even lead themselves, they damn sure ain’t leading others. :hhh:

I don’t think the :dame: interview started this trend tho. Pretty sure most didn’t even watch it.

And it gave us “Harlem” so I say it’s an overall win

thats life breh.
the reason the rewards are so great is because of the risk.

everyone isnt going to make it...
...we need more going after it.

The risk isn't the issue...

Lot of our people don't like to play the background..

Would rather have 5 different "bosses" than to make a collective and slide into a role that's best suited for them..

Didn't do shyt to anyone but his small group of stans who were already sold on what he said.

It does however describe a major problem with people's mindset in the community.

We also know that Dame is a typical Harlem breh who'll say whatever he thinks sounds slick, no matter if it makes sense or not.
Cause man built companies by having employees :snoop:

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
8 years ago this polarizing interview took the net by storm

We all know what was said so need to summarize it, the question is do you think it helped or hurt us ?

Me personally, ima say hurt.

This interview put out the idea that anyone that works for someone else is basically nothing. It wasn’t a trend that just went away either. 8 years later and the talking points dame dropped on here are still bought up right now.
The people who were defending eboni k were using these talcn points

The ironic thing is, since this interview both envy and char have continued to surpass Dame on pretty much every metric we can judge success by yet people STILL think Dame was spitting goals

this was a horrible interview. If people actually looked up statistics nobody would have taken what he said serious.

Imagine Dame Dash preaching this nonsense to a room filled with Indians, Chinese people and Nigerians.

He would have been laughed out the room.

A software engineer making 250K a year being called out by some person who has a business barely making 50K a year all because he works for someone is hilarious

Indians, Nigerians, and the Chinese in many cases have their own medical practices and businesses that they own. Like Indians with hotel ownership nationwide for example.

That's why they have higher incomes than cacs. Because just working for cacs by being a software engineer etc...means that you're at the mercy of them anytime they feel like firing you.

Yup. Everyone wants to be "the boss" until they realize how many sleepless nights they'll initially have creating a good business plan, getting space in a good location to start your business, finding dedicated staff who's willing to work hard for you, distributing revenue for the salaries/tools/resources/rent, spending money and time on marketing/advertising, and worrying about any changes that can impact the business or product.

My older brother is a barber who owns his own shop yet he also works security and drives Lyft on the side because many of his clients moved out of NYC due to unaffordability and he was forced to jack his prices up just to make a living and keep his business afloat. And running a barbershop ain't even a top 10 most stressful business to run. Imagine running a tech company, accounting firm, a school, a law firm, a construction firm, a restaurant, a record label, a clothing store, a church, etc.

People love the idea of being a boss more than the reality of it. One of the reasons why starting off working a 9-5 helps you become a better boss is because it helps you develop a strong work ethic necessary for running a business. If you're not willing to work for at least half a day or put sleep/vacations/hobbies on hold to make sacrifices, then you're not ready to be a true boss point blank.

This is not entirely true. The reason why they make so much money is because they dominate white collar career sectors by picking the best paying fields and understanding how to move up the ladder to management and C level positions.

A Chinese, Indian and Nigerian don’t go to sleep miserable because they work for a white man lol

I can tell you right now the average Indian American is not trying to be a hotel owner. Lol
