do you think Gangsta Rap could ever be as popular again as it was in the '80's, '90s & '00s

do you believe that it is possible to happen ?

i feel like artists have made it normal for people to rap about whatever they want and people gravitated towards that and not so much being a gangsta rap nikka. there is still a new generation of gangsta rappers in the game but they are not very much popular(except for a few) as like the rappers who rap about some shyt that relates to people, or the rappers who makes music to turn up to.

No...

Just like soul music will NOT and is NOT popular today...We all love the songs that were sampled by Hip hop in the 90s, so why don't we make that kind of music?

We don't because the times have changed and people have moved on from the genre...

It is like asking Nas why he can't rap like Illmatic and IWW again...It is because he can't....He is not in the same context anymore...

Plus, Drill Music was way MORE gangsta than ANYTHING ever done before in Hip Hop...

Shooters actually picked up the mics and started rapping about all the people they killed and witnessed get killed...Not no made up Hollywood sets...

How much more real can it get? :demonic:

this is TRUE.

The only thing about it is that Gangsta rap was better overall by most accounts.

But as far as "realness" Drill is ground zero.

i agree with you but at the same time has Drill music really made a mainstream impact like a gangsta rap genres such as G-Funk or Mafioso rap did back in the '90s ?

Some kind of mix between G-Funk and heavy bass/trap would probably sound great. Problem is the MCs, don't wanna hear no mumbling, no autotune, nor dudes who sound 14.

I listened to this mixtape from a LA kid who did the whole G-Funk theme, even the cover kind of looked like the drawing on Doggystyle, had some interludes like Wballs...beats were mostly on point but yeah, no personnality, voice wasn't commanding attention enough.

rap is dead, when the south started running sh!t it ruined the whole genre

rap was better off when it was strictly westcoast and eastcoast
