Because that’s bullshyt double wrapped in metaphor. People hear the “underworld” and instantly jump into thinking the devil is under ground waiting to pull all the bad people underneath, it’s juvenile on purpose to keep people who buy into it from asking too many questions.
The so called “god” nikkas worship and fear is/was a flesh and blood being with an agenda, not THE creator.

No water, food and sleep in hell. You won’t even have a second of rest in hell. You won’t even have a drop of water in hell( read about the true story in the bible about the poor beggar Lazarus and the rich man, who was an unbeliever )You will be stuck with the dregs of humanity in hell (pedos, racists, homos, murderers, sluts, witches, Heathens etc)
In hell, you will only find misery, bitterness, regret(because you could eternally have been in heaven with the Lord the if you just trusted in Jesus For eternal salvation and life) darkness, weeping and gnashing of teeth and burning in 1 000 000 degrees Celsius forever.
Only thing that matter after this life is whether you died in the Lord or you died in your sins. If you died in the Lord, by only putting your faith in God’s gospel of grace( Jesus Christ death on the cross for your sins, his burial and his glorious resurrection after 3 days and 3 nights) , the moment you believed and trusted our Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, His blood washed all your sins, and all your sins were automatically imputed to the Savior Jesus Christ and His righteousness was imputed to you. As soon as you become a believer of the Lamb of God, The Holy Spirit comes inside you, you are officially a born again Christian and a child of God.
You see, When God sees you, He sees His righteousness not your sins. He paid a sin debt he didn’t owe, because we(human sinners with a sinful nature) owed a sin debt we couldn’t pay. We can’t help ourselves, it’s in our blood, we sin as naturally as we breathe. We can’t erase our sin debt with good works, good intentions, good thoughts and nice words. Self righteousness, good intentions and human effort to be decent folk (like religion ) is a clear path to hell. God will never accept our efforts and righteousness no matter what. Our righteousness is trash to Him(KJV bible, Isaiah 64.6)
If you die in your sins(because you rejected Jesus Christ as Savior and you rejected His precious soul saving blood as payment for your sin debt(His death on the cross, burial and ressurection after 3days)
you will go to hell and burn there forever and later , you will be judged in the great white throne judgement and will be cast into the lake of fire forever, with satan and his army of devils. This is the second death according to God and the scriptures.
