A 16 game schedule where EVERY GAME MATTERED and EVERY LOSS YOU HAVE WILL GO AGAINST YOU would be

If a team lets some other team beat them in week 2 with a clutch 3 pointer you will be sitting there week 17 with the 9th seed thinking "damn if i defend against him better"

Owners wouldn't want it because it'd be less money from stadium money. Also, doing something as experimental as this might turn off the fanbase, and thus hurt their tv money next time a tv deal pops up.
