It's too late for the E to turn Cena heel. They had so many opportunities to do it that if they wanted to turn Cena heel, they would have done it already. The ship has sailed. I mean, he's already a heel to most of the live crowd; at least the ones that sing John Cena sucks when The Time Is Now comes on.

But I gotta disagree that the neckbeards will like him if he turns heel. They'll still hate him, I don't think cena can pull off being a good heel anymore. He won't return to the Dr of Thuganomics, he'll just put on a generic arrogant persona that won't even be hateable to adults, but def not cheerable.

This era has been the absolute worst, at least the Bruno era gave us a respectable Alpha Male of a champ. But the last decade has been shyt. These fools can't think outside the box, which is what the Attitude Era writers finally did.
Having a group of tweeners headline, where you have no idea where their loyalties will lie week-to-week, or which one will come out on top, is piff. Where all that you know is that each is deadly and would literally kill to be Champion of the World, is all that you really need to write GOAT angles that lead to dope matches.
Since the WWF's name change, wrestler promos just don't have that air of desire that used to exist when guys would say stuff like "I strive to be the very best in the World Wrestling Federation" or "This is where the power lies, being champion of the World Wrestling Federation". People don't realize how much the name change took away from the title's prestige.
The star or RAW, Smackdown, Main Event and every PPV always has to be the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship. As long as that roster thirsts for that belt more than smashing any dime, the angles will write themselves, with or without a "top face"
