So they are making these institutions millions of dollars and they should be ok with getting room and board?

This would be the equivalent of some one hiring you for whatever talents you have that you make money from and you being ok with them just giving you lunch.

Their scholarship is for one year at a time and they dent major in anything worthwhile because the coaches don't encourage it and they don't have the time

You're delusional if you think they're just getting "lunch"
All scholarships are 1 year at a time. Let an academic scholar drop below a 2.5 they snatchin that thing back. Have you ever thought the reason they don't major in anything worthwhile is cause they aren't academically qualified to be in college in the 1st place smart football players major in whatever they want. PE majors don't get rhode scholar opportunities. And there have been a handful of players in recent years to qualify for that type of honor.
