My favorite comics are ppl that have some social shyt in their comedy like Chappelle and Chris Rock. They would never give Chappelle this much shine. The way Kevin Hart blew up in such a short time you would think he was in the illuminati.

I don't believe in that illuminati shyt, but I do believe that comics have to do certain things to get a mainstream crossover success. I just think Kevin Hart has been the latest comic to be giving that opportunity and taken it. I'd say Kat Williams and Dave Chapelle were the last two who had these chances but didn't want to do what they asked.

I have never sat thru a Kevin Hart standup in it's entirety without flipping that shyt off.

But the way he's being pushed down our throats and appearing on everything under the sun, his schtick is going to get stale real quick. He'll be a distant memory in about 3-4 years. Not just because of overexposure, but because his brand of comedy has no real substance.

I think he's the "safe" comic. Honestly before Paper Soldiers I never seen or heard of him. This is not a hater thread and I'm not knocking his success but that movie was funny and a hood classic but how the fukk did he blow up off of that? He went from that to starring in Soul Plane to even bigger shyt and now he's doing movies with Stallone and Deniro.

Niigga every where you look you find Steve Harvey? Family Feud, Radio Station, Movies, Day time talk show. DL Hugley is doing his thing on CNN, Eddie Murphy stopped getting support after the tranny thing.The Martin Lawrence show is a classic but I wasn't impressed by his standup and even he had a pretty strong run with his movies. Chris Rock had his run, Chappelle decided to leave. Cedric the Entertainer is not funny and Bernie Mac had a successful run with his shows and movies.

The only disappointment is that Patrice O'Neal was never as successful as he should have been. Truthfully, I know what it is with you niiggas. :camron: Niiggas who don't find Kevin Hart funny are into "Hood" comedy. Comics that talk about hood shyt, food stamps, the projects, baby mama's ect. Kevin Hart is from the hood (for real) but he is more wide spread with his comedy to where a cac would enjoy it too. He's like the non-lyrical rapper that wants a broader audience so his makes his raps easy for more people to understand.

I like comics like Dave Chappelle that are more socially aware in their standup comedy but, Last month or so I watched all the Chappelle show episodes from Season 1 to Season 2 in one sitting and truth be told, Dave Chappelle did ALOOOOOOOOOT of c00ning in his show that is why it was so successful. He catered to his white audience by basically imitating black stereotypes and cacs ate it up. Every now and then he would make fun of white people but more so in a "black people are dysfunctional but white people have it good" type of way. Which is c00ning. :thinking:
