He's been a comedian since the late 90's tho. His success wasn't overnight. All that is is progression and taking opportunities when available.

Alot of them have to change their material to get crossover fame. Look at Steve Harvey. He had to turn into a fake Dr.Phil to get that. It's either being extra safe or self-deprecating like Kevin Hart. Sheryl Underwood does this too on The Talk.

I be watching that shyt and be feeling like I'm supposed to laugh because everyone else is laughing but I can't bring myself to do it. I be wondering what's so funny that's making them laugh but not me, is it that I'm a hater? Is it that I prefer the thinking man's comic? I think it's the latter, I haven't watched a Dave Chappelle comic special and not laugh.
To me all the great comics had some sort of social relevance in their comedy. From Pryor to Chappelle they all touched on real social shyt. I remember lmao when Chris Rock started talking about the difference between nikkas and black people. That shyt was so funny to me because it was true. When that nikka said hide your money in books because it's like kryptonite to nikkas I hit the floor because it's true.
When he said nikkas celebrate when nikkas get out of jail but frown upon nikkas when they graduate from college I laughed because it was true. It wasn't that he did a lot of physical comedy when telling those jokes, it was that he was speaking on real shyt that you rarely hear publicly. It's the same reason why my 2 fav rappers of alltime (2Pac, Scarface) are my favorites. It's because they speak on real shyt instead of just talking about the glamour and shyt I can't relate to.

Why do they put every nikka in a dress? I was just looking at Rickey Smiley's show the other day because I seen this bad bish on it and they put that nikka in a dress in the opening credits. It's like they don't give you shyt unless you emasculate yourself.

What does that have to do with my statement? You spend the vast majority of your money with non black people, but you don't hold them to the same standard as you do Kevin Hart in regards to investing back into the black community.
