first time since 2013 ive had sick days...ive used one early this year because of a stomach bug...mine dont reset but if i get close to the max, then id be forced to use them..same with my vaca days

I did in my last job which was a government job but that’s because I hated my job.
Also I was in grad school doing a lot of work and sometimes needed the days.

Most managers are stupid and make their employees tip toe around it.Of course.
They are called "unplanned" days here.
We get 6 a year.
Already used 2 of them
Why wouldn't I?
They are a part of my salary/compensation package.
I know some people who take pride in never calling out sick for the billion dollar corporation I work for

I usedto coordinate Sick Days with my employees so we weren't caught off guard by ppl calling in. I hate managers that act like it's not our right to call in sick. nikkas think they own the own the company and shyt
My manager is mad cool.
He lets us plan them too.
I make sure I'm not taking off at dire times though.
We can work from home too so it's easy here lol

This sounds like me. I used to call out until we got a new Asst. Manager here and he emphasized that sick time is just what it says...sick. Like, sick to him is contagious. So if I woke up with food poisoning or a sinus infection, since I'm not technically "contagious", I'm still expected at work and to be productive. He said, you can't wake up one morning and decide "I don't feel like going to work today" and call out...even if you have the leave.
So, I'm trying to play the game as best I can...

I used to but the company I work for now will pay you out for them at the end of the year if you don't use them.

Last year only used 4 of 5. Can't bank them at my gig and the most you can use 1 year is 5 so I lost it 
But we can use them pretty liberally, planned doc appoints etc. so can report them ahead of scheduled time. don't really get sick or visit doctors like that but best believe I plan to use them all this year.
