I told my daughter from day one that there wouldn't be a fat white dude coming through our chimney. Now that she's a little bit older she likes to pretend that he really exists. She likes to tell her little brother that Santa is coming, it's kinda like an inside joke between me and her.

My wife thought I would hurt her Christmas spirit by telling her the truth, i dont think I did. My problem now is getting everybody to quit telling my son this Santa shyt. He's only 2 so he doesn't understand it either way, but as soon as he does he will know the truth. I just hope my parents(who never lied to me about Santa) and my daughter don't confuse him.

Thoughts? Am I wrong for not lying to my kids?

I tell them "Santa" doesn't exist, but that Saint Nicholas did exist at one time but is no longer around. I buy the Christmas presents. Why lie? When they find out the truth, my kids will know that I didn't lie to them like the other kids parents did. Have to establish trust at a young age.

I believed in Santa Claus, a little bit too long, so when I found out, I was crushed and felt stupid at the same time. :sadbron:

I pretended to believe in Santa Claus longer than I actually did to make my parents happy. Does that make me a dikk?

What happens when they grow up and lie to you and say "we'll you lied to us all our life"
I hardly think telling children santa is real will encourage them to lie to me when they get older.

If anything then they'll learn to trust their own thoughts and not what someone tells them to believe.

Would you take your daughter to a magic show and spoil all the tricks for her or would you let her have the enjoyment of believing the impossible is possible.

:heh: They won't react like that.

nikka let the kids live :why:

Can't do that. They watch me get up and go to work all year. They complain "daddy why do you have to work so much" then at the end of the year I'm supposed to let them belive that some magical white dude brought us our happiness:rudy: fukk that. They will understand you must work hard to get what you want. There is no mythical white man out there waiting to shower you with happiness.
