Also if you are talking worldwide popularity soccer, baseball and the NBA are beating the NFL. No one gives a shyt about football outside the U.S.

Those guys were balanced out by a lot of American stars and I think they were a lot more accessible too. Besides David Ortiz, name some current Latin players who are outgoing or want to be seen/heard.

Puig?

baseball doesn't want to market individuals. they don't want players getting bigger than the game. Once their top stars got caught juicing that totally scared MLB away from individual promotion. So now a guy like Ryan Braun gets caught up and he's not seen as this larger than life guy like Sosa, Bonds, McGuire, A-Rod were cause he's not a huge household name. They'd rather promote the teams so they as a league don't take as much damage unless some 1920 White Sox shyt happens again.

who really is a household name in other sports tho? like the nba. everyone knows lebron since he before he was in the nba. his fame precedes his career. only other player is kobe, and his rape charge got him more into the national spotlight. in the nfl you have brady. non fans likely know him cuz he married to giselle. think peyton is the only other big household name. jeter just got more exposure cuz he was playing in the biggest tv market and stayed in the tabloids.

the endorsements for baseball are there but its tough when the nba is killing the game. what are jordans going for now, about 200 a pair? if nba players are getting huge shoe deals while still in college, then itll be tough for an mlb player to get one. kids these days want basketball shoes and jordans to follow the crowd and be cool.

dont know if the language barrier means anything but it might. some just dont like the attention. i hear cabrera likes to keep to himself and not be all showing out or anything. trout just got some extra exposure from the asg. hopefully that builds something. only mlb player i see in commercials is ryan howard and he might not even be a household name.

MLB off the Bat has actually done real well for MTV2 and that's all to market players individually

Half the guys you named are well known, but in their countries. I watched the HR Derby on ESPN Deportes and guys like Puig, Abreu, Bautista, all those guys are loose, have personality, and when you see them, they're kliqed up and ALWAYS good for a sound byte.

The one guy on your list that you named that doesn't get that kind of respect yet is Carlos Gomez and that's because he's still getting better and he's a villain here but gets crazy props in DR. You almost to market him in 2 different ways.

The World Baseball Classic flat out delivered from a marketing standpoint except for the US and that's cuz everyone knew they'd lose

2 minute mark: the whole DR team was shooting on how much better they were than everyone else. It wouldn't be appreciated the same way if they tried that in English

I knew those guys were extremely passionate. That's something MLB should be pushing. When kids see a bunch of guys out there looking stoic or announcers condemning players for showing some life, it's gonna give the game a negative vibe. Baseball's a great game and it's fun; why wouldn't they want to promote that?

MLB did that to themselves by covering up the PED era for so long. If they'da cleaned that shyt up instead of turning a blind eye to it so they could profit, that wouldn't have happened.

C'mon, man. We see a ton of NBA guys in commercials. Kobe, LeBron, Durant, Paul, Griffin, Wade, Carmelo, Rose, Wall, Lillard, Westbrook, Harden, Davis. Hell, Dante Exum already has one.

NFL guys in commercials are Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, AD, Suh, Calvin, Cam, Kaep, Eli, Welker, Bush, Polamalu, RGIII, Sherman. Plenty of attention for individuals.
