Average meaning the date idea itself was subpar? I think it can lead to a second, if you you have a connection and hit it off. You can go on a boring date, but the conversation can make you forget about that. An extravagant date doesn't guarantee a second either if there is no connection.

It would depend on whether or not the other person knew it was mediocre, then you could laugh about it, say you don't know what that was about etc. But if they think it went great and that was their best then

Depends on the person. if u usually dating a hoodrat or some phony uppity chick and u the type of dude who don't splurge on her ass second date probably won't happen. ur label as a boring dude even if u took her to a nice restaurant and some nice spot.

I can't remember too many first dates that didn't lead to a second date. In truth, how can you really know whether you're interested in somebody after one date? After one conversation for maybe an hour or two?

Too many people are so shallow these days that if the chemistry isn't insanely instant and the attraction is not "I want to rip clothes off right now" and the jokes aren't quite "LMAO" enough then the first date is just "meh."

Not to mention, I thought first dates were more like introductions/ice breakers? I don't even really count first dates because everyone can be cool on one date. Let's see how cool a chick is by the fourth and seventh date. Let me see how she acts after she relaxes her representative.
