Does anyone actually like majin buu saga?

It just feels so redundant, like a greatest hits album with weaker remixed production and vocals.

Big fumbles

• Goten, his entire existence
• Not bringing back any z warriors
• Gohan becoming de powered and written off early in the real fight
• Bringing back goku to make him the star
• Majin buu being a cell retread
• Great saiya man arc
• Fusion
• Ssj3 being ugly and killing the moment of ssj2 last season

• Majin vegeta - whole shyt felt like mindless fan service after all the real growth he had in cell saga

As a whole arc it's super inconsistent. I've said it for years, the only real bright spots in the whole buu saga were

Vegito

Mystic Gohan (before they Hoed the fukk out of him)

Vegetas Sacrifice and growth throughout

Didn't like it. Made Gohan look like a sucker. Gotenks had the hottest moves in the whole DBZ universe and wasn't utilized properly. I was also a little older and was getting tired of the same old wait for Goku to solve all our problems formula.

Buu as a villain was what ever but I did like Kidd buu. Bro was a menace.

I can’t help it. The hype during the time was at a fever pitch. The build up, the AMVs of the saga with linkin park/creed, the games dropping around the time, the wait for it.

All your critiques are valid, but when Vegita blew up them people and started dropping bars still a top 5 speech.

13/14 year old me wanted the spectacle and buu saga delivered. I am not ashamed to admit that.

All the hype was because of how great the Androids/Cell saga was. While the Buu saga was airing, people were STILL talking about Cell.

If im being critical the saga is too long with too many forms for buu.

But the highs are very high. SSJ 3 for the 1st time Vegito, Vegeta admitting Goku is the GOAT

Yeah, it's a disjointed arc with too many lows but the highs are dope as hell.

Certainly a victim of its time were adaptations had to be made continuously and aired weekly, and the show was such a success that Toei stretched things out as much as it could, adding filler and adapting less than 2 manga chapters per episode IIRC these greedy fukks had GT planned before Toriyama even finished the manga (or little after it ended) and they aired the first GT episode immediately after the Buu saga finished . As with most shonen, Toriyama was probably our of ideas by that point and just trying to finish his work the best he could.

By today's standards, it's a 36 episode adaptation + one final big budget movie most airing in 3-4 years, instead of 90+ eps (or 65+ in DBZ Kai).

I think Dabura & Babidi should have been the villains for most of the Buu saga. That would have trimmed a lot of the fat on the plot and it wouldn't have dragged so hard. You could have gotten the Z fighters involved while Dabura tries to get more energy for Buu's egg. Gotenks fights Dabura to a draw but can't murk him so Mystic Gohan becomes the only hope to beat Dabura and that would give MG something to do besides get absorbed by Buu.

Mystic Gohan kills Dabura but it's too late and the egg opens with Kid Buu inside.
