No. This is one of those things that we as a people just go with. Airplane mode in phones were not even created specifically for when you are on an airplane. The function that it carries out is similar to what airplanes want, which is not having any radio interference, so they named it 'Airplane Mode'. They didn't call it that because it's purpose is to be used on an airplane.

There isn't enough interference to really cause anything. You really think that if something bad could really happen that these airlines would just leave it up to chance that people will use Airplane mode? :heh:

Nothing will happen.

I do. Just have my songs downloaded to my phone out of Apple. If everybody didn’t turn off their phone it would be annoying as fukk for the pilots because they’re going to keep hearing loud beeps from phones trying to find a signal

I don't. I probably should, but I figured if it was a big enough problem, they would visually watch and check everyone's phone.

Worst case scenario is that it will cause annoying static on the comms unless Boeing has been cutting corners on signal interference protection on navigation systems.

I do just because it saves battery And stops trying to find a signal 30,000 ft in the air. But like a poster above said if it was really an issue like that they’d Debo your shyts before flights
This. Its probably psychological, but when i'm traveling i always feel like my battery is getting MURDERED out there probably trying to find signals.

Lmao it’s because you’re too high. Signals move at the speed of light, the speed isn’t the issue.
Hmm, because you're moving it might not be able to connect, by the time it finds a tower you're already coming up on another one.
Plus once you leave a major city there isn't that many towers anyway.

The worst is when the gps won't connect to a satellite and you can't tell where you're at.

Every time. I feel like if I don't I'm not doing my part to help out the pilot :russ:
