There are not any 8gb rips of a blu-ray cuz there is no 8gb blu-rays

you can fit a 1080p movie on a smaller filesize if it has a low bitrate

there are 1-2gb blu ray rips that are 1080p but the quality is shyt because of the low bitrate

This is what I do. The bigger sized rips are for better and uncompressed audio. My home theater setup is just my sound bar and subwoofer in my family room until I get my basement done.

Xvid rips aren't close to home rips if that is what you are trying to cyse

Nah bruh That was the general assumption when BDrips started becoming popular
But even then, it was full BDrips that averaged around 30-50gb
Then the 720p rips would drop which average from 2-8gb.. with Yify doing great work at 1.4gb usually

You are NOT getting 1080p native quality at the sizes you guys are yapping about. Sorry, there isn't 35gb of sound, which leaves less than 14gb for 1080p video

A screen shot is not indicative of how good of quality a movie is. To many factors apply to a moving picture over a screen grab. I'd go into it, but i'll save that for the first person feeling froggy

But once you start degrading it aka going from 50gb to 2gb, its not the same picture anymore

Well sir, then that would mean 12gb = 25gb rips. I never implied that, only you and @Rekkapryde and a few others have implied

Now, to save face. Or just to be difficult, you will back pedal on that while maintaining that the 2gb and 8gb are pretty much equal. But here is the difference. The 8gb ones have the full audio in them.
So really, those bigger rips are only if you want sound. If you want just 1080p video and stereo audio?
Then 2gb should be sufficient

So then, that would mean you only need about 6..7.. maybe 8gb for the sound. Ok, blu-rays are 30 to 50gb in size
So long story short, you want 1080p video native? NATIVE? You talking 20+gb just for that alone
Basically twice to close to 3x the size you guys routinely download

uncompressed video is huge. 10bit 1080p at 24fps is 667GB/hr

the general scene rips for 1080p will be under 9 gb or so. the internal ones (use a higher bitrate, maybe have DTS instead of DD) can be between 10-20 gb.


720p is generally under 10 gb unless it's one of those movies with a lot of film grain, in that case the bitrate will be higher. you have to understand the basics of encoding to understand how the filesizes work and what rip is best for you and your situation.

for reference a REMUX (take the untouched video and audio from a bluray but NO extras) is generally about 30-35 gb.

Once I figured out who are the best P2P groups, I started eating when it comes to grabbing the best available rips. Private site I use only keeps the best copies of every format in every category (1080, 720, dvdrip) and usually the best copies come from the same groups.

1080p/60fps is the go to for the console wars. But if its a movie, then who gives a crap about 1080p or 24hrz whatever/etc/blah blah blah

i notice the difference, I just dont care about having the best quality unless Im buying the shyt. I still dl dvd rips if im just gonna watch on my computer. Never dl anything bigger than 3 gbs unless its a whole season of a tv show or something
