Did he still have his dreads when The Big Bang came out?

Because it was around that time he started to fall off.

Busta Rhymes animated delivery over off the wall beats is what made him. "Touch It" was a change of pace, but still somewhat off the wall and animated. The rest of the album and the next album found him rhyming over beats that better suited Nas, Raekwon, The Game, and some of the more newer generation of rappers. I mean, that song w/ Linkin' Park sounded like something more suited for T.I. or maybe even Eminem. "Cocaina" from Big Bang sounded more like something Nas, or Common would rhyme over.

I don't understand why all these New York rappers just keep going and ruining their legacy when they are :flabbynsick:. Dude could have bowed out gracefully awhile ago. Now he has his fans questioning everything he does, other artists mad as fukk that he being featured on their tracks, and leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth. :usure: What the fukk are you doing with your career at this point? No one is anticipating his album. No one is looking forward to these features. When you get to the point where dudes are questioning whether or not you were good to begin with you need to fall back:stopitslime:

Why should he fall back? This is how he makes is money, this is his job my dude. Forget who is questioning him, he should stop making dollars because dudes like you feel that his time is over? Ain't no retirement plans in hip hop and there isn't an age limit either, dudes gotta eat despite what YOU feel. Dudes dedicated their lives to this, Busta been doing this over 20 years and I f he still feel like dropping bars he earned that respect.

So Busta should've stuck to his animated clownish persona(which got played out) and never changed? Picture him doing that dumb ish right now, he's 40 YEARS OLD, you dudes would be killing him worse. Dudes grow up and change. Who stays the same and still sells? You have to keep reinventing yourself, this is the industry:leon: lol@ y'all dudes still wearing baggy pants and Uptown with platinum chains in 2012. Everybody changes, its consumers that don't change and want 1999 music in 2012. Dudes talk about how hip hop is lame now and the dudes back then were better BUT when dudes from back then hop on records for a few bars and remixes, dudes say it's corny and say dreads are the reason, smh.

Its like dude woke up one day and decided that he didn't like his lane anymore. He wanted to make that jump into the "Top Ten" debated category but stumbled something harsh. You can't, after many many years in the game just decide to switch up your ENTIRE image. Dude went from that funny, animated, fun kind of rapping guy With the boundary pushing Videos to Coke kingpin overnight thinking he was going to be taken "seriously":childplease:

The Big Bang wasn't a bad album, I still bump a few gems from that album, and his guest features aren't as horrible as people make them out to be, and he DOES get credit for making his career last as long in the mainstream as it has, but dude has fallen off when it comes to his own albums. Back On My BS was a travesty of EPIC proportions and his signing with Young Money doesn't bode well for his future...
This^^

I think alot of it had to do with Dr. Dre. I saw interviews with Rakim once he left that Dr. Dre was really on him about "bringing the guns out" talking that gangsta shyt. I think Busta took the bait and in turn become someone who is almost unrecognizable at this point.

Change is allowed. However he went from being one of, if not the most unique people in hip hop with this crazy, amazing energy and imagery to a generic, brand X, assembly line thug rapper. After The Big Bang dude fell off bad. Some of his guest verses are cool i guess but for the most part...he's flabby and sick.

Because it was around that time he started to fall off.

Half the marketing plan for that album revolved around the fact he cut his dreads. He wanted to show he was more than just the animated cartoonish rapper. IMO he accomplished it, Big Bang is a near classic.

But that Back on My B.S. garbage was inexcusable. :snoop: Iono wtf happened cause the album he was supposed to release on Aftermath before that (Blessed) was shaping up nicely.

Busta lost his bang when he cut off his Loc's and released the big bang.

I always felt like ludacris was more of a cartoonist figure versus say busta or redman. I guess that line by camel got to him deeply. Even ludacris shared the same fate when he cut off his braids, oh well.

You don't think he made enough money during his career to eat for the rest of his life?

it's kinda the same thing with luda. Not saying that luda is wack now, but cutting his loc was like a turn in his career, like I'ma be a serious rapper from now on. Tjt'a xhen he start doing tracks like runaway and start playing seroius roles in movies. He realize he can't be taken seriously looking like a project nikka with dreads. No one would give him a role in No Strings Attached or New Year's Eve if he had looked like o' dog

He fell of cause he's trying to have them millions stacked and taxes paid, I guess that's a common trade of for having a 2 decade long successful career in the musics industry. The Big Bang was serious though, It might be the 5/5 production on most tracks, but busta was still spitting.

Precisely...

I agree that the more 'normal' Busta got, he lost his edge... but to say the dude should fall back when he's still gettin' paid and bein' put on records? :ohlawd: If the wheels ain't fell off yet, why would he quit now? Retiring is for people who can no longer make money or have flat-out lost all relevance whatsoever. This nikka got on that Chris Brown record and ended up having the most guest appearances all last year. But nah, let's fall back cause dudes on the message boards question his skill level. :shaq2: I don't care if Busta never makes another good album in his lifetime, but as long as the ball's still rollin', quittin' is pointless.

it was over for him, when he started hanging out with all the young nikkas trying to be cool... only Bun B is allowed to do that.

now luda, his shyt fell off once he cut his hair...and it fell off hard.

Luda dropped his best album right after he chopped his shyt. Busta ruined some quality Dre production and rapped over Mike Epps samples
