There's a difference between a comedian saying something while performing, and a political figure with the power to make laws, or a person in a power position to deny you employment, or get away with killing you saying something. That's regardless of race. Joan Rivers said all kinds of inappropriate stuff, but she was a comedian, so she could get away with it.

I was cosigning your earlier statement because I read some comments in the thread that seemed to side step your point.

I think that some of the post chapelle show standup material shows that maybe he wasn't being 100% honest about the reasons he gave for quitting the show.

I haven't really listened to him like that but I knew that this is what OP meant when he made the thread. People saying the "too sensitive" comments are ignoring why fans are confused about Chappelle.

These dudes more than likely dont know what was going on with him behind the scenes regarding on set. If so they'd know this generic cliche theyre projecting is hypocritical, since the man himself had the same sentiments.

Alot of people miss(or choose to miss) Dave's social commentary and they just be laughing at the funny voices and vulgarity. Doesn't get me uncomfortable though.You have people that said nothing about him playing a black crackhead with ashy lips, but he makes a jokes transgender people and all of a sudden he's public enemy #1.
