I remember first seeing the syntax and being like - what the hell is "var"?:gucci:) but it's very straightforward. There seems to be some camaraderie between developers who enjoy the idiosyncrasies of this language. It's kinda funny

Not really. I can jump in if I need to, but I'm not going out of my way to. On the other hand, I don't really need to use it since I'm not doing web dev, and the web services I work on are written in Spring.

My first language out of college is Reactjs and I personally love it.

I definitely wouldn't say I love it. I love my C# via visual studio though (probably because of my game developer roots). I do like it though. When I was actually deep in javascript, the thing that frustrated me was the very volatile set of frameworks. It seems like everything is mostly converging to React now though for front end, so maybe the environment is better now.
