get started now with kale and broccolli and carrots, radishes, wheat, barley, rye, u don't have much time seasons cooking up short. you can prolong it a lil building some hoophouses but ol man winter coming with that frosty foot gonna stomo everyone out soon, unless u do what @CarbonBraddock is talmbout. The are maybe 3 or 4 threads that have been bumped this season about gardening. ive posted in all them lol. @newworldafro has good posts in the 6certs homeowners thread @DrBanneker has good posts in the survivalism gardening category and @Stir Fry has specific crop advice

i got a large aquaponics setup and i'm literally drowning in fruits and vegetables brehs. i got my shyt inside a greenhouse and you can buy those online. don't have to worry about bugs or weather either. none of my shyt is in soil and is grown by being exposed to water and nutrients if you don't know how it works. also use fish to grow shyt too and you can eat the fish. but i'm just getting started on that so i'm not an expert yet.

there was a video on youtube about how to get started with like 35 dollars or something like that. it involved buying one of those large plastic storage containers you see at walmart or wherever. then you get the little cups with a small amount of soil for the seeds to sit in. you drill some holes in the container lid and you can put the cups in there. the container is filled with water, if i remember correctly. of course i branched out after that, but pretty much everything i learned i got from watching on youtube. you can see how creative people have gotten and then decide what to use yourself or what not to use.

temperature controlled, and you can grow a shyt-ton of food in a small space doin it this way, like i could be growing tons of food a year if i wanted to, but i don't need that much shyt.

I have a plot at the Ethan Allen Homestead. (Look it up.) My kids love going there and it teaches my son that hard work does pay off. He likes to pull out weeds and screams out "Get outta here weeds!" While doing it.

I'm currently growing Sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, various types of pepper and some herbs. Shout out to my African brothers and sisters, I've learned so much watching them take care of their plots.

The joy you get out of being able to grow your own food is very fulfilling.

I WAS JUST INTERESTED IN DOING A SMALL HERB GARDEN KIND OF THING TO START OFF. MAYBE MOVE TO VEGETABLES NEXT YEAR WHEN I GET THE HANG OF IT. I JUST WANT TO WORK OUT OF MY BASEMENT FOR NOW. IF IT GOES WELL I'LL LOOK INTO MOVING OUTDOORS. MY UNCLE HAS BEEN ITCHING TO BUILD A GREENHOUSE BUT HE LIVES IN AN APARTMENT. I HAVE A DECENT SIZED BACKYARD AND WOULDN'T MIND TRYING IT OUT.

that's what's up. for this kind of thing, i think youtube is your best bet. you can look on forums, but with youtube you can actually see what the funk people is talking about. that's how i did it and i started with a small setup too. you can just type in 'small hydroponics' or something like that and you'll get dozens of videos to pick and choose from. and you don't need a bunch of space to grow a bunch of stuff also. like, for me, i have this tower setup thing, that i got from youtube, and it grows a BUNCH of shyt, but it has to be outdoors. if you can't or don't want to go outdoors, then they have things for indoors too. there is a lot of flexibility if you will put in the time.

Let me find out y’all nikkaz be growing shyt. After my success in growing weed I decided to get more into this shyt. Love it. Therapeutic to see my lil seeds growing into maturity. No gloves either, do that shyt bare handed like a real African.

I’m almost done with the front yard setup. I just want to add a banana and palm tree to give it a tropical feel at the doorway. Might plant a witch hazel tree along the pathway so there’s some winter blooming.
