Does anyone know why TPAB has more critic reviews on metecritic than every other album?

For over a year Kendrick Fans have been saying how this is the most critically acclaimed hiphop album ever but why did all these publications rush out to review a Kendrick Lamar album and none of the other big releases in that time span

Because it was hyped as being a great as album AND he's big.
He's got hiphop, indie (specially indie, cause most reputable websites that review all types of music and get on that site are indie) and the commercial on lock, the music heads that listen to whatever is getting reviews, few people have that.

Just look at the amount of people that gave the album a rating, 3 times more than Views, and Views sold like 3 times more.

Someone has to have the most, Kendrick happens to be that dude .


Compare that with a dude like Sufjan Stevens who has what Kendrick has but he's not got the commercial tip. He sold probably like 30k first week and has 40 reviews. Same with Tame Impala another "superstar" among the indie crowd. But the biggest indie superstars must be Arcade Fire, and their latest album had 48 reviews, yet not as hyped as Kendrick.

Pop albums are going to have less critical reviews than concept albums. It would be like asking why Nas Gods Son has more reviews than Nsync and Britney Spears albums from that same year.

I'm not a fan of TPAB at all... but LIG is like 8th studio album from Nas... obviously less ground breaking than the 2nd from Kendrick. Untitled was 8 years ago and we know the internet wasn't the same back then... finally MCHG was from Jay and supposed to be some kind of concept art type album. Look at the cover and the themes. It was actually the closest album to TPAB that you've mentioned so far.

Adele and Beyonce aren't britney spears breh. For better or worse they have a lot of credibility in the music community despite being pop. A better comparison for today would be Justin Bieber or Kesha
