Does anyone wonder how our life would have been if instead of our ancestors coming to America they ended up in South America?

I have idea what you are talking about. I asked my original question because I think these Afro Latinas in South America could directly benefit from an alliance with Africa yet that is not championed as much as it should be.

I agree with you....part of the reason are the super powers feel they have ownership in certain places and compete.....

the question is in relation to wrongs of the past....I do not want to use the word reparation because slavery cannot be compared....

what I am saying is whether it be 50 or 100 years from now....do you think those whose parents were sold crack would sue those involved who built businesses and made millions?
not just the ones who flew the plane...yet also those who bagged up and sold hand to hand....

do you think that is a possibility?

More slaves went to Brazil than any other country. :dahell:

Living here is better solely because of how wealthy this country is. If historical events were different resulting in this being a poor nation, living in the US wouldn’t be better than any other poor nation.

That's the ironic downside of no one drop rule. Guaranteed the white Latinos view themselves as Spanish/Italian/German/white but the Black Latinos don't always see themselves as "Black." The see themselves as their nationality first and then color.

That makes sense if you're in Jamaica but not Brazil
WTF are you talkin' about? Don't let these dominicans fool you. Afrikans there are...Afrikan. I see the word "afro" more in Colombia than I see in the US. Remember, you got ninjaz and kneegrows who are really trying to sell the story they aren't Afrikans but the original ppl here. You can't make this shyt up. Plus don't get hung up on phenotypes: the r/23andMe shows that.

Thread probably full of nonsense and the opinion of folks who never left their state but honestly, if your ancestors were taken to Latin America there's a much higher chance you wouldn't even exist as mortality rates were higher and miscegenation was higher. The fact that people are still mind blowned by black people living outside the US or speaking a language besides English (despite more slaves being taken to Latin America/Caribbean) is a testament to that.

Speak on this, brother
Very simple (oversimplified): when you visit other African diaspora communities, it is quickly realized how the AA community was striped if it's African hertiage, customs and culture. "Black" culture is de-Afrikanized culture. I can put it to you better this way: the fact you even have fringe groups that will claim to be something else besides African is enough proof within itself. That said, as a Haitian American in Colombia i see way more black women that can blend in better in Haitian than a stunning amount of AA can.

Which diaspora do you think has retained the most African culture?
