Does binge watching make shows seem better than they really are?

I really liked seasons 1 and 2 of waking dead when I watched it over 1 week on netflix. Same with the first couple of seasons of Lost and Breaking Bad. Once I caught up and started watching it week to week, I gotta admit, the luster wore off. I stuck with it, but I really didn't like it as much as when I was just watching episode after episode.

I think TV shows would be better served if they followed the Netflix model and just dumped entire seasons at once. It'll get people more involved and there will be less criticism and less people getting turned off when the plot is going nowhere each week.

yep

people who actually waited weeks, months, years for answers and a conclusion to a series will always feel different than a dude who binge watched a series over the weekend.

It make them less if anything. We used to be foaming at the mouth having to wait a week for lost and breaking bad. My brother watched the whole first season of lost in one day and didn't see what the big deal was

only if the show is good. at least breaking bad stayed good. with some shows, its almost a task to watch new episodes each week.

me and my girl binge watched The Following S1. Some of that shyt is down right outlandish but its underrated :manny:

You could binge watch a show like the league or MoFy and they still hit the same (cuz they aren't linear storytellers). Netflix does have the right idea, i do agree.

I feel like it's the opposite for me. I think the experience of watching a show week by week is what makes a show seem better. I watched all of The Wire within a week or so. I started watching Breaking Bad when it was on season 4.
Having that being said, I experienced Breaking Bad week by week for the last seasons and it was an awesome experience and almost had me thinking it was better than The Wire until I realized it was mostly hype and talking about the show with other people that made it seem better.
It's really hard to say though, it could go either way for individuals. :manny:

:ohhh:Yoooo I'm going through this RIGHT NOW with the last season of AD, started in December and I'm only on episode 6. I cant get into it like I did the past seasons, almost like I gotta force myself to watch an ep :sadcam: And it's not even like it's bad...

But everybody all extra flabby now

On topic, I feel like binge watching (good shows) takes away from the experience. You take the greatness for granted when you don't have to wait week to week. I don't even want to hear you talk about show like Lost, Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones unless you been through them middle of the week withdrawals :to:. Otherwise you wasnt with us shooting in the gym :birdman:

Da city where the skinny nikkas die
threadstarter has it backwards

when you binge watch it you are more likely to be critical and notice all the flaws. You can remember the stuff that happened between multiple seasons easier. you're also way more likely to just quit in the middle due to the time commitment.

I binge watched Breaking Bad up until Season 4, then I watched it week to week. It took nothing away from the show's greatness to me. It proved it as a GOAT show

Same with The Wire.

When i binge watch I actually pull up old threads and read them at the pace of the show. so I'm avoiding spoilers and being all :lupe: like everybody else
