for those who have seen '42', does he have the acting chops/screen presence to pull of this iconic character, or should it go to someone more established (Morris Chestnutt, Tyrese, etc)

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/CaptainAmericaSuperfan/news/?a=76256

Sometimes something or someone comes along and changes everything, and with all the talk around Oscar award winning director Brian Helgeland and his new movie '42' about the life and trials of the late great Jackie Robinson which stars acclaimed actor Harrison Ford , but it's his lead man Chadwick Boseman who's considered a new talent by many who is going to set Hollywood ablaze. '42' is scheduled to be released in theaters April 12, 2013 Boseman will have new found fame. And we all know that with fame comes opportunity. Maybe not just for him but for Marvel as well. I know this may be premature especially since the comic book movie franchise has been quiet about their plans for one of it's more popular characters The Black Panther. For over almost a year now online in articles and message boards I heard Boseman mentioned for the role of The Black Panther. I don't know if Marvel heard that or not, but I must admit that I wasn't familiar with Boseman's work up until now, but when I saw the trailer for '42' I swear out of nowhere I said " there goes Marvel's Black Panther!" I didn't even know that was the same guy that a few people had mentioned online for Black Panther already, I just saw it, but if he hits a homerun in '42' then the idea of him playing the Black Panther will surely make sense(and if it makes dollars it makes cents) Marvel isn't stupid you don't have the type of success they do by being dumb. People have been asking for a Black Panther movie for years now! Trust me The Panther is coming someway somehow in the Marvel film world soon. From talks of vibranium in Iron Man 3 we will be seeing the Panther soon. Kevin Feige said last week when talking about how Marvel films works, Feige expressed his love for new fresh talent (good talent I'm sure). At first I wrestled with the idea should The Black Panther be a big name or fresh talent, I even wrote an article about Will Smith taking on the role but now I see I was wrong, or maybe there is no right or wrong answer. Doing a movie on The Black Panther is the only right answer. The 31 year old Boseman has the depth and the ability to play any role that he chooses to. After '42' just like Robinson I hope Marvel and Kevin Feige gives Boseman and The Black Panther the opportunity to play on their team.

Has he ever done any type of accent? That is going to be the thing that makes or breaks a movie Black Panther for me...if the actor sucks at accents and soundfds like Arsenio Hall in Comin g to America then I will be annoyed as fukk. That is why I have always thought that a British actor should be cast in the role.

Him, John Boyega or Chiwetel Ejiofor for the role

But I still expect Chaning Tatum to get the part, Hollywood :snoop:

The Truth
How hard would it be for him to learn some sort of martial art and play a prideful, African King?

Yes, he was able to play Jackie Robinson and James Brown (harder to do imo) so why not.

Like these actors can't go to an African dialect coach or get in shape.
