Mike only has 13???

Hitting #1 on the hot 100 is not easy. Garth Brooks has multiple Diamond albums and he doesn't even have a #1 hot 100 hit (He has 20 #1 Country hits). Same with Shiana Twain. Mike has 17 total including Jackson 5 (I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save and I'll Be There their first four singles went #1). Also "Never Can Say Goodbye, Mama's Pearl and Dancing Machine" hit #2. As for the premise of this thread. Yes I believe he does have some of the least memorable #1's because most of his #1's came during the streaming era. Jay-Z's only #1 "Empire State of Mind" is more memorable than many of Drake's. (Even Jay's feature #1's were huge with Crazy in Love, Umbrella and Heartbreaker). To me a lot of Drake's most memorable songs actually didn't hit #1.

"Hold On Were going home" peaked at #4. "Find Your Love" hit #5. "Best I Ever Had" hit #2. "Hotline Bling" hit #2. "Forever" hit #8. 'Take Care" with Rihanna hit #7. I'll give him "One Dance" and "What's My Name" and Work" because of Rihanna those are memorable and they were much more "R&B" than rap. Also he did well with "Scorpion" having so many #1's. The Future and Tems joint did well too. All them other joints came and went to me. I think Drake does have some memorable features though like "I'm On One" hit #10, "She Will" with Wayne hit #3, "Right Above It" hit #6, "F'in Problems" hit #8 etc. Where as Michael, Mariah, Janet, Madonna, Stevie and Whitney's hits are still being played till this day decades later. You can't go in a department store in America and not hear one of their #1 hits.

Like "I'll always love you or I wanna Dance with somebody" or "That's The Way Love Goes or love will never do without you" or "Papa Don't Preach or Vogue". Shoot I heard "Part-time lover" from Stevie the other day while shopping and that hit #1 in 85 when I was a kid. Michael is played constantly. Mariah Christmas song shuts down December ever year and that hit #1. Mariah, Janet, Stevie and Whitney's greatest hits all did numbers. Madonna greatest hits went Diamond. Diana Ross & The Supremes hits been going for over 50 years. Michael has multiple multi-Platinum greatest hits album including "History" which went Diamond.

The Beatles dropped all their #1's on a disc in 2000 and that joint went Diamond so their #1's hold up as well. I think Rihanna's #1's are also memorable because a lot of them came pre-Streaming. Usher has 9 #1's, all of his joints are memorable too because again pre-streaming. Taylor Swift #1's I'll admit, I could honestly only name 1 of them joints but I'm not much of a fan of her music. That's what weird, those other artist I named even if you aren't a fan, their songs were so hot you still knew them. With all that said I do think a Double Album Greatest Hits from Drake would do well (One Disc- Solo Disc 2 Features).

 Almost Half of that Drake list (pretty much the ones dropped in the streaming era) are not real hits.

What’s next
Slime you out
Way 2 sexy
Jimmy cookies
Toosie slide
First person shooter

This is why it’s hilarious to see him acting as if he really competing with Mike.

Aren’t there a lot of hit records you can’t name a lyric to though? I generally agree on those two songs but there are others I think we agree were cultural smash hits. Hotline Bling, God’s Plan, In My Feelings, One Dance, What’s My Name, Nice For What…

We can’t sit in a dark room alone and say these tracks weren’t hits because we didn’t like them. My mom knows most of those songs lmao. Those are songs people have life memories to.

I remember when certain people were calling Nelly and Jay’s hits trends that nobody would care about in the future. Same with Eminem hits. Songs that chart for weeks or months don’t disappear.
No, there aren’t a lot of hip hop hit records that I can’t name a lyric to that come from someone of my generation. But neither Taylor Swift or Drake are the answer because I know white people that know every Taylor Swift hit song.

There’s your answer. Going number 1 back then required unanimous support more or less - now you can go number 1 with streams just off the hype and your fanbase all listening. Staying power is a greater indicator.

Taylor Swift has the most forgettable #1’s followed by Drake.

MJ has the most memorable #1’s

I didnt know the Supremes had that many #1’s :dwillhuh: and then Diana Ross followed that up by putting up more solo hits as well with Chic

Below is all of Drake #1 Hits.
  • "God's Plan"
  • "Nice for What"
  • "In My Feelings"
  • "One Dance": (featuring WizKid & Kyla)
  • "Work": (Rihanna featuring Drake)
  • "Toosie Slide"
  • "What's Next"
  • "Way 2 Sexy": (featuring Future & Young Thug)
  • "Wait For U": (with Future & Tems)
  • "Jimmy Cooks": (featuring 21 Savage)
  • "Slime You Out": (featuring SZA)
  • "First Person Shooter": (featuring J. Cole)
  • "What's My Name?": (Rihanna featuring Drake)
Looking at this list, most of his #1 hits was just for the moment fun songs, that really had no substance, and have not aged well imo.

Toosie Slide, Gods Plan, Nice For What, In My Feelings, Way 2 Sexy, Jimmy Cooks, Slime You Out, First Person Shooter, What's Next"

I still hear One Dance, Work, What's my Name, and Wait For U tho.
Half these songs coming out in a small post covid window while his actual album unit were in steady decline from Views on should tell everyone everything about what's happened here.
