He really be spamming the charts and streaming to go No. 1 then we forget the song ever existed :laff:

I'd say Swift single some of them just went #1 off being the first track on the album. I don't think the general public would say Shake It Off is some forgettable track, for instance. Likewise I don't think God's Plan or Hotline Bling are forgettable tracks nobody will care about in x years. They're still being listened to at high levels. Does he have some that will be forgotten like Toosie Slide? Sure. But that's not the norm out of those tracks.

I always think about how people said a bunch of 80s music wouldn't last or was trendy and here we are in 2025...Sussidio and Hungry Like The Wolf and Rhythm Nation didn't magically disappear into the ether. They're still cultural staples large groups of people recognize/appreciate. The music you listened to while partying/fukking/crying/etc in your teens and 20s is always going to matter.
In the streaming era, how high a song peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 charts doesn't mean shyt anything anymore becuz it's too easy for a popular artist's new song to debut in the top 10 & eventually still flops or the song never gets a single push. You gotta judge how a big a song is by how many weeks it charted instead. Drake's 13 biggest hits based on longevity on the Billboard Hot 100:

"No Guidance" - 46 weeks peaked at #5
"Wait for U" - 41 weeks peaked at #1
"Life is Good"* - 38 weeks peaked at #2
"Going Bad" - 37 weeks peaked at #6
"God's Plan" - 36 weeks peaked #1
"One Dance" - 36 weeks peaked at #1
"Work" - 36 weeks peaked at #1
"Hotline Bling" - 36 weeks peaked at #2
"The Motto" 35 weeks peaked at #14
"Take Care" - 34 weeks peaked at #7
"Hold On, We're Going Home" - 33 weeks peaked at #4
"Jumpman" - 32 Weeks peaked at #12
"Too Good" - 29 weeks peaked at #14

Below is all of Drake #1 Hits.
  • "God's Plan"
  • "Nice for What"
  • "In My Feelings"
  • "One Dance": (featuring WizKid & Kyla)
  • "Work": (Rihanna featuring Drake)
  • "Toosie Slide"
  • "What's Next"
  • "Way 2 Sexy": (featuring Future & Young Thug)
  • "Wait For U": (with Future & Tems)
  • "Jimmy Cooks": (featuring 21 Savage)
  • "Slime You Out": (featuring SZA)
  • "First Person Shooter": (featuring J. Cole)
  • "What's My Name?": (Rihanna featuring Drake)
Looking at this list, most of his #1 hits was just for the moment fun songs, that really had no substance, and have not aged well imo.

Toosie Slide, Gods Plan, Nice For What, In My Feelings, Way 2 Sexy, Jimmy Cooks, Slime You Out, First Person Shooter, What's Next"

I still hear One Dance, Work, What's my Name, and Wait For U tho.

Aren’t there a lot of hit records you can’t name a lyric to though? I generally agree on those two songs but there are others I think we agree were cultural smash hits. Hotline Bling, God’s Plan, In My Feelings, One Dance, What’s My Name, Nice For What…

We can’t sit in a dark room alone and say these tracks weren’t hits because we didn’t like them. My mom knows most of those songs lmao. Those are songs people have life memories to.

I remember when certain people were calling Nelly and Jay’s hits trends that nobody would care about in the future. Same with Eminem hits. Songs that chart for weeks or months don’t disappear.

Slime U Out isn’t a real hit. Probably flopped after the first week.

It’s like some of the Taylor ones. First song on the album or first single that automatically goes #1 because of how streaming works. I agree I don’t consider that a hit that transcends time. But like…In My Feelings was everywhere for months. The video was a big moment. That’s what a real hit is.
