It ain’t that bad. I’m sure it’s kinda like camping.

:francis:

I disagree, it is horrible. I use to camp when I was a kid and camping was fun. This shyt here is nothing like it.

It amazing what you appreciate more (clean water, bed, quiet time) when you don’t have it. I use to hate being on the street all damn day. I use to go to the library and put in apps, go to the museum, to the gym but when you look at the clock and only 3 hours pass, you become annoyed

I would be more afraid of my children being homeless than myself. But I don't have any children.

Not at all, but I’ve been homeless twice. Once in college for 5/6 months and another time in the streets of NY for 4/5 months. My apprehension was going to the shelter. I was a college educated man waking up in a room full of junkies and prison nikkaz, but I would do it again if I had to. It actually made me a better man

I always know I’m too smart to be homeless and can take an uncomfortable job making shytty money until I find something good. Luckily with me paying off my mortgage next year I’ll always have a place unless it burns down or gets knocked down by a hurricane and even then I’ll get a $200k payout.

You know what's weird? I was homeless for a year and a half and I realized the shelter can be the worst place to go for homeless people. Mostly the sick and dying go there. Shelters don't really help you either. It's run by mainly volunteers so it's not the safest place to eat ro rest if you're worried about getting sick. People don't realize that you will not get help from the shelter

yes, I was only there a night but that shyt is fukked up. You eventually go to an intake facility in Brooklyn and then to a shelter which was in Jamaica.

brooklyn was probably the best spot overall
I was a security guard in Bellevue for a few months and I personally saw how fukked it was. I said to myself I have to make sure it doesn't happen to me.

All facts bro. The shelter is a shell, everything else is up to you. They do push you to get on welfare and go to job training but this is mandated so they have no choice. There were mad dudes laying up on the room all day doing nothing. They would tell them “leave” during the day and dudes would find ways to stay in and watch tv. One of my roommates did nothing all day. Young dude too. Maybe 24/25 at the time. I saw him one day walking around Harlem spaced out. He didnt even recognize me lol

I don’t wish it on anyone but sometimes, as a man, you have to go through the fire to eventually get to the light (personally speaking). There are a lot guys out on the street now who refuse to go to the shelter because the streets is safer. If images of that don’t make anyone hustle harder, I don’t know what to tell you
