No. Recovery was the first album really digging deep into the pain and resolution of hardcore drug abuse. I thought it had a good message at some points.
naw....drake is the biggest rap star in the world right now, and is actually more of a pop star than anything else. The fact of the matter is that Kendrick ran laps around other supposed "huge" rap stars like Big Sean, Ross, Chainz, etc with respect to album sales, so it goes w/o saying that Lamar has positioned himself quite nicely.
Not only is Kendrick making music that appeals to black rap fans, and not the 1% and their bytch ass groupies that fawn over that status, and making substantive and meaningful music, but he has also tailored his music to be accessible enough to outsell all but the biggest artists like Em, Drake, Wayne, etc who all make shtty pop music for white girls. It goes w/o saying thats a tremendous accomplishment in such a superficial environ we have now.

Of course we do, obviously. But hip hop artists don't really sell anymore and subpar pop hip hop acts and albums outselling doper acts have been a common occurance. Why would you lose sleep over sales? Just support what you like and enjoy what you enjoy and you'll be better off. Trust me, friend.

You act like this aint Drake 3rd plat album. Kendrick just put out his mainstream debut. I was surprised it went plat myself. You gotta be a real stan to feel any type of way that a debut album undersold a top 5 hottest rapper in the game.

Ok well let me be bothered by industry plants creating demonic filth that hurts hiphop. Dont tell me what to be bothered about. It matters to me, seeing friends win. I cant imagine what Drake is going to rap about if he ever finds a wife. I think that just might end his career. Kendrick will always be able to create incredible concepts though. Long as he doesnt get hooked on drugs or take time away from the studio.
You tell me that you're not bothered by it but you get very defensive about me stating the obvious. Demonic, vacuous filth has been outselling more worthy creations for ages, friend.
