Yep, and there's the cold hard truth most people never want to realize.

The NFL is all about winning the big one, no matter what Peyton does, he`ll always be seen as a regular season guy.

Colin Cowherd made a great point today, think about how little stats mean in football. When you think of guys all-time stats people don't even remember them of their favorites. Because stats is such an individually focused idea. Especially in the span of a career. You may know whose the all-time leaders but the actual numbers fall through the cracks.

I couldn't tell you how many touchdowns/int's Joe or Steve have in their career. I know Emmit is the all-time rush leader but I couldn't tell you the number.

But we all know who got the most rings. Guys like Peyton, their numbers will be replaced as this game becomes more pass centric. Kinda like how Marino's contributions become less and less noticeable as time goes on.

A lot of people hate on Colin, and sometimes he does come off as racist, but then there are times when he makes GREAT points like the one you just stated and I can't help but agree. I remember during the Lebron-to-Miami summer, Colin was sonning dozens of dumbass fans everyday with cold hard truth and logic.

Honestly, that's a cheap ass argument that I think media types keep spouting so shallow fans feel better about themselves. I'm not saying you're a shallow fan because I've seen you on here, but It's ridiculous to discount a player because someone can't keep track of individuals. In the case of Marino his numbers are being praised now even more because changes in the game. I can't count stats off the top of my head either but stats are how you determine who are great whether they win ships or not. Ain't no one remembering Dilfer or Rypien or Brad Johnson either way.

A regular season guy to who exactly? The people that want to justify their jealousy of PM? How often do you hear "Peyton Manning is one of the greatest regular season QB's of all time"?

Stats mean little to who exactly? The casual fickle fan or the actual football fan? How often do you hear a real football savant say "Joe Flacco is going to the HOF because he has a Superbowl Ring"?

I couldn't tell you how many touchdowns/int's Joe or Steve have in their career. I know Emmit is the all-time rush leader but I couldn't tell you the number.

But your missing a significant point...Montana and Young were GOOD players. Emmit was a GOOD player. The rings don't always justify the stats. Joe Flacco has more rings than Dan Marino but I'm sure you wouldn't go as far as to say Joe Flacco is overall a better QB than Dan Marino only unless your a casual shallow cheap fan of football.

Nah son @LastEmperor2k2 is showing his true colors....there is a genuine jealousy here.

@BLAZO da GAWD is still mad because Denver traded Tebow for Manning :what:

That explains how the castration of Andrew Luck starts at the top. They dont want a qb to shine like Peyton, they want a gm manager. So trade my fude Luck and give him free :noah:

Hasselback can manage a gm and hand the ball off to Richardson for 2yrds a carry. Tebow or Sanchez can di that.

I can't stand Colin either, I think he race baits constantly, but the point was dead om.

Football isn't one of those sports were anyone cares about numbers, there is rarely ever the feel of a great stat chase. Probably only one is the single season rushing record.

That's why threads about Peyton's 4 game September run or other arbitrary stats just are so forgettable

People might not remember numbers, but they remember the BEST

Peyton won't just have numbers, he'll have the best numbers of all time. No question. That will not be forgotten

Jealousy over what?

If you rooted for Manning for the last 17 years, you were broken hearted all but one.

I call it like it is, this is the perfect example. You have an NFL owner telling it like it is, all them stats are nice but what really matters is winning the ring, especially as a QB in the NFL.

See and that's where your argument is flawed, the game is geared towards passing. His numbers will eventually go away, he doesn't have the Jerry Rice type lead in any of the categories.

Eventually someone will replace Manning's stats, just like they did to Marino.
