it takes 20 years for a car to be called a classic and i look at albums the same way.only time will tell if its a true classic.so far i dont think it make it.its a very good album but in 20 years i think this album will be forgotten about.

To me this project is the definition of an album that "grows on you". I hear something new everytime i listen to it. The production was a little lackluster for my taste, but i can still appreciate his vision. I'm actually anticipating Nipsey's new marathon tape more than i was for GKMC, that's my go to westcoast sound right there.

Hip-Hop purists:snoop: Is y'all niccas too :flabbynsick: too appreciate music? this generation of rap music is too me better than it's ever been, Rap in the 90's didn't really offer variety, almost every major New York rapper slanged coke and knew Sosa or some random druglord, And those are the same people y'all purists niccas praise the most

Old "back in my days" ass niccas:heh:

Don't y'all think the niccas that grew up on that Motown sound and the Marvin gay etc or the funk sound hated 90's Rap, most of them did
This shyt don't make one bit of sense. :what:

its the music as a whole just works...everything i personally love about hip hop is present

:shaq2:

lol, you have no idea how wrong you are lol. You had from super gangsta thugs, to jazz rap, to native tongues, and so on. There was definitley more variety in the mainstream back then compared to now.

Nowadays there's more of a generic forumla to get put on. Back then the only formula you could say was the ability to rap and some creativity.

It plays like a movie; so the skits and songs correlates with the the theme/title of the album. :yeshrug:

As much as I love this album, this is no Illmatic. :comeon:

Lmao first of all Native tongues weren't didnt have no major rapper except ATCQ, You can count De La too if you want. They were all still not as successfull as the LL,Nas,Jay,Mobb,BIG,Foxy,BigPun,Onyx,Lox,EPMD, and so on pretty much had the same sound and subjet matter in the 90's. Stop lying to yourself breh, Today you have gay rappers like Wiz, gangsta niccas like Young Jeezy, swag rappers like Big Sean, lyrical geniuses like Kendrick, country niccas like Big Krit, then you have Drake, Weed rapper like Currensy and all of them got their own sound:leon: nd Only one of them talks about coke:smugbiden:

As a concept it's dope and brilliantly executed
But I don't even think its kendricks best work:yeshrug:
I think having a theme for a whole album limits him...

Gotta agree wth this... "Kendrick Lamar EP" is his best to me. I know a lot of people heard OD and Section.80 but the "ep" is slept on. It's basically a full length album and has a lot of my favorite kendrick cuts on there.
