Does Kool G Rap Have a Better Discography than Rakim?

all i know is out of all the albums between Ra and G Rap mentioned roots of evil does not get the attention it deserves....it so underrated...IMO that was G Rap's best album..its in my top 5 hiphop albums of all time...he thoroughly ripped that whole shyt

LL is close, Cube would of been but the Predator ain't seeing any of Ra's 1st 3. Kane fukked up with Taste of Chocolate and Nas, Columbia and bootleggin killed I Am. Pac 2nd album had too many shytty beats. Ghostface comes close but sample clearences fukked off his 3rd album some. You can make a case for Scarface but his 2nd album is similar to Predator. KRS has a good case but Blueprint ain't coming close to Ra's 1st 3 either. Redman 1st 3 were great but again none those 3 are seeing Ra's. Chuck D and PE had 3 classic albums but the 1st is childplay to Ra's 1st 3. Aceyalone's first 2 are right there but the 3rd isn't on that level. X to Z had 3 but they weren't on that level. Del had 3 but the 3rd was tricked off by label problems and some of the best songs were given to 3rd Eye Vision. Love Quik's first 3 but the 2nd ain't on that level. Kam tricked it off with Kamensia and Paris 3rd album ain't on that level. Wise Intelligent and PRT, you can make a case but the 3rd album not on that level. Special Ed had 2 great albums but the 3rd just a good album. I love the first 3 Slick Rick albums but
the 2nd and 3rd are not on that level.




I can't seem to come up with a better 1st 3 albums by a solo EMCEE than Rakim.

Excellent analysis. The closest are LL and Cube. Kane did mess up with his 3rd album, production wise.


Rakim has a better discography than G Rap, I honestly didn't think there was a comparison between the 2 when it came to songs (it's not) but G Rap's rap skills are crazy dope. I always thought G Rap lacked great beats and radio bangers after his first 2 albums.

Rakim's first 5 albums are classics...IMO

g rap's only classic is 4,5,6....the production on his older albums...ehhhh...a lot of them tracks didn't age well at all.

G Rap having a better catalog than Ra is laughable to me (and I love G RAP) but everybody got different taste I guess.
