I know this sounds wacky, but think about it, math and numbers are only useful to human beings. If we didn't create the system of math what would numbers be useful for?

It's just a system created by humans and is only relevant to humanity. Sometimes I just like to think about tripped out shyt.

Like there is one poster that shows earth in his sig and it looks like a spec of dust from the universal standpoint, and it kinda insinuates that's how small and insignificant we are. But when you think about it, that's really how much me watter. Because without us that picture never could be taken and there would be no understanding of the universe.

I know, i`m on my

I love it, no one ever wants to discuss any outside of the box shyt but if I were to post in here; God is responsible for all good in the universe or Democrats can't be trusted it would be 4 pages already.

Uncertain grounds
i posted something similar in the infinity thread...numbers/math may not be a perfect system, but they will both exist much longer than any conscious being's lifetime so in that, they are certainly real.

In which way though? If we weren't around, the system we created would still be applicable, but it would be useless correct?

Props for bringing some discussion

dormancy or inactivity doesn't negate existence, necessarily. just because there is no human to subjectively perceive something, doesn't mean that that perception still isn't unattainable or that the thing that was being perceived originally, no longer exists after that perception of it vanishes.

in addition to that, personally, i believe in a coding/fabric to the universe, in which numbers are essential for various reasons

So I see, you're saying they were already there and it's more of our discovery than our creation.

Just like time is something we created, even though that would somewhat be considered math as well..

“Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion.” :ohhh:

This thread makes my head hurt... People just dont like discussing things they don't really have an answer for...it's fun if say Dr Kaku is talking about something like this...but I don't think any of us are physics masterminds

But I'll give you kudos for a thread that isn't run of the mill snobbish attack religion or liberal conservative stuff

yes they exist because it application helped create many useful things we use in the world (this computer for instance). To say numbers don't exist is like saying the world does not exist once you close your eyes. It is all about the discovery.

Just because we came up with something doesn't mean it isn't real. Our entire culture, way of life, and values and morals were also created by us. There's no law in the animal kingdom that says its wrong to go to your neighbors house, kill them, and take their stuff.

so theres probably a bunch of things out there we haven't even discovered yet :ohhh:

:bryan: it's barely morning and you want to ask a loaded question like this......

I also think we've already had two threads that are very similar to this so there's a topic exhaustion/fatigue involved unless we want to discuss this with more depth or technicality. This "whoa, dude, did you ever think about..." sort of convo is kinda :yeshrug: unless someone has some information
